Whiskey
Age 9yrs old, stands 15hh, Color Palomino. Whiskey is a gelding that came into our program to be legged up and sold after his owner passed away.
He has been trail ridden and used on the ranch. Whiskey is absolutely handmade in every way conformationally, he is GORGEOUS!
He has been with us over 12 months now and we have used him in all aspects of ranch work from light duty chores like checking fence and gathering to more in depth things like catching cattle and using him in the stockyards. We have also flagged team ropings on him. He has a great work ethic and is a horse that can pack you all day and keep a good mind. He’s spent many hours working the stockyards and he open and closes gates with ease and handles the hustle and commotion of that job during the cow sale very well.
Whiskey is awesome to ride on the outside whether doing ranch work our enjoying a trail ride. He rides out alone without issue. He crosses water without hesitation and can pick his way through tough situations extremely well. He is very careful with his feet. Everything that we have pointed him at from deep mud to thick brush or water he has never hesitated to ease his way through. He is not spooky or flighty to ride outside and is accustomed to working alongside dogs.
I would describe whiskey’s demeanor / personality as willing with a great work ethic. He isn’t an in your pocket type horse, but he is respectful and well mannered. He is currently kept in a pasture. When we use him we call him up to the barn with feed and he comes into his pen to be caught. He stands tied very well, bathes, stands and is well mannered for all grooming and saddling etc. He is currently barefoot and has good feet. When he is fresh he will be snorty, but he is no outlaw and has never offered to buck even when he was months fresh. He doesn’t stay snorty. I do consider him gentle, he would be consider a beginner kids horse.
Whiskey handle is good and easy to get along with. He is ranch horse broke.Whiskey neck reins well, stops well, turns around good. He catches both leads loping circles and is soft. He is broke like a good honest ranch horse.
Whiskey is made to last and is completely sound. He is an easy keeper and will always be one of the prettiest horses in the barn.
