“Diesel” 15.2hh 2015 Buckskin Grade QH Gelding

Health and Care: Up-to-date on farrier work, dental care, sheath cleaning, chiropractic care,💉, and deworming. Diesel is barefoot and has never worn shoes. He trailers well. He is sound and ready to work. He has a superficial cut above the carpus on his front right leg.

Quirks: Can sometimes be herd-bound after sitting for a while, dislikes direct sprays, and may need a double dose of sedative for procedures.

Current Living Situation: Lives in a mixed herd with other horses, donkeys, and an alpaca; he is higher in the pecking order. He is used to tractors, quads, trucks, bows, dogs, and kids.

Training and Temperament: Diesel joined us on his fourth birthday, quiet and eager to learn. He has extensive ground and liberty training (including laying down on cue) and has participated in a variety of western clinics and programs over the years including horsemanship, beginner roping (head) (dummy), stretching/yoga, obstacles, barrels, poles and trail riding. He has also attended kids’ camps. Diesel does not buck, bolt, or rear. He can be a “looky lou” on the trail, but he’s gone through every obstacle or terrain ever asked of him. He is proficient in walk, trot, lope, stop/woah, backup, “emergency break/one rein flex,” and sidepass. He neck reins and is responsive to leg aids. You can ride him tacked up or bareback/halter. We’ve been working on shoulder and hip disengages, with a goal to get him spinning. With a bit more training, he could easily become quite fancy. Diesel responds best to a soft, confident rider. He is a cookie-loving pet horse who is responsive, patient, and sensitive. Diesel is a quick learner with excellent retention, even after breaks. I don’t foresee performance sports as one of Diesels’ aspirations; however, with the right partner, he is capable of anything you ask. Diesel has more “woah” than “go,” but he can move out when needed. He deserves to be someone’s dedicated, all-around mount and not just a pasture ornament.

Diesel is ready for a partner or family who will fully enjoy his prime years and make the most of his abilities. He is the kind of horse that everyone in the family can use and enjoy.
